Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 26, 2026

Overview

Tab Cemetery is a Chrome extension that automatically closes inactive browser tabs and stores them locally for later retrieval. Your privacy is fundamental to how this extension is built — we collect absolutely no personal data.

Data Collection

Tab Cemetery does not collect, transmit, or share any data. Specifically:

  • No personal information is collected
  • No browsing history is sent to any server
  • No analytics or tracking tools are used
  • No cookies are set by the extension
  • No third-party services receive your data

Data Storage

All data (closed tab URLs, titles, timestamps, settings, achievements, and statistics) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This data never leaves your browser.

Permissions

Tab Cemetery requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • tabs — to monitor and close inactive tabs
  • storage — to save your graveyard, settings, and achievements locally
  • alarms — to schedule periodic checks for inactive tabs
  • notifications — to optionally notify you when a tab is closed
  • offscreen — to play the optional death bell sound effect

These permissions are used solely for the extension's core functionality. No permission is used to collect or transmit data.

Third-Party Services

Tab Cemetery does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. The extension works entirely offline after installation.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. The extension will continue to operate under the same principle: your data stays on your device.
